This morning, the East Dallas brewery with over 12 years of service announced its departure from the neighborhood. The company, which is owned by Monster Beverage Corporation, said while business at 2823 St Louis St has ceased, they will continue to sell beer throughout Texas. Deep Ellum Brewing’s beer production location is unknown.

“From the great folks who’ve worked here to those who’ve joined us for a pint or a show, we’d like to thank everyone that’s been a part of our journey,” the brand wrote in an Instagram statement. “…While our hearts are heavy with this news today, our love for Deep Ellum will always run deep.”

This establishment has been a historical alcohol sector to the neighborhood as it was once the only craft brewery in Dallas when it opened in 2011.

In June of 2018, CANarchy Craft Beer Collective, a craft beer and hard seltzer company from Austin, bought the company with founder John Reardon still involved. Two years later Reardon was “forced out” following a lawsuit that alleged the company and its parent company, Fireman Capital Partners, did not pay him. Reardon later announced on Facebook he was crafting a “sequel” to the brand, Deep Ellum Distillery.

In 2022, Monster Beverage Corporation acquired CANarchy for a $330 million deal, according to a press release.

Deep Ellum Brewing has already permanently closed, leaving its fans without a “goodbye party” for farewell cheers.

“Devastated by this news. Honored to have called this place our home. Thanks for helping us find our flock and for all the wonderful memories,” a former customer commented. “Happy next adventure to you all and thank you for the East Dallas memories,” another customer added.
