M Streets resident Dave Ashworth has been named the chair of Cancer Support Community North Texas‘ Board of Directors.

Ashworth has spent 16 years on the board of the nonprofit, including time as chairman. The organization an affiliate of Cancer Support Community that offers education, psychological support, networking, children’s programs, workshops and other resources to people with cancer and their families.

“Cancer stinks,” Ashworth said in a statement. “Not just for the one diagnosed but for so many impacted by that person’s diagnosis. Our aspiration is that no one faces cancer alone.”

His wife, Janet Moll, had cancer decades ago. At the time, they didn’t know about Cancer Support Community North Texas or its emotional and social support services.

Previously, he was the executive in charge for strategy and system development for Presbyterian Healthcare System (evolved into Texas Health Resources) for 25 years. Ashworth also was the president of Cambridge Healthcare Development.

He founded health care consulting firm DCAshworth Consulting, LLC.

During his involvement with the nonprofit, Ashworth has helped develop its strategic plan, including by deepening its presence in Fort Worth.
