Former Dallas Cowboys player Keylon Kincade is Woodrow Wilson High School’s new athletic coordinator and head football coach.
Kincade, who has 17 years of coaching experience, started his new job last week, according to a Dallas ISD press release.
Previously, Paul Beattie was hired for the position, but he ultimately decided not to take it.
Kincade served at Chisholm Trail High School in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator, and his offense broke multiple school records. Before then, Kincade was at Winona High School in East Texas as the athletic director and head football coach and led the program to numerous milestones and school records. He also coached at Mansfield Timberview High School and Fort Worth’s R.L. Paschal High School.
“I am incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity to lead the football team and campus athletics at Woodrow Wilson,” Kincade said in a Dallas ISD press release. “This is an opportunity that comes with tremendous responsibility, and I am fully committed to giving my all to the school, athletic department, and the Woodrow community.”
Kincade’s own athletic history is filled with success. Not only did he play for the Cowboys — spending 2004 and 2005 on the practice squad and getting on the active roster in 2006 — he also was a free agent with the New York Giants and was on NFL Europe’s Cologne Centurions in 2005.
At Southern Methodist University, Kincade hit multiple milestones, including being one of five players to rush more than 1,000 yards in a season, ranking sixth in school history with more than 3,000 career rushing yards and holding the single-season and single-game records for rushing attempts. And in high school, he earned all-state honors while competing in football, basketball and track.
“Football is about building character, fostering teamwork, and creating a culture of excellence,” Kincade said in the press release. “My vision is to develop not just great athletes but great individuals who embody discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship. I’m grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to continued success in the athletic program at Woodrow. Let’s get to work.”
