No false alarm here. Cry Wolf, a new restaurant from chef Ross Demers, is opening in a former Subway in our neighborhood.

Construction has begun on the building at 4422 Gaston Ave. and an opening date is scheduled for late 2020, CultureMap reported.

Demers helped open the Local Traveler, which closed in June, as well as the bygone On The Lamb in Deep Ellum. The chef used to live off Junius Street and drove by the building often. He started thinking about opening a restaurant there in 2017.

Cry Wolf will be a small 28-seat eatery with a limited menu of about nine items, according to CultureMap. There will be an open kitchen and bar.

“It’ll be a real small operation, and I’ll be cooking with a couple of old friends,” Demers told CultureMap. “I hope this can be a cool hangout for East Dallas.”
