Crowbar Fitness is a new gym opening on Belmont near Greenville Nov. 10. Its owners, neighborhood residents Molly Setnick and Karen Soltero, grew up together in Lakewood. They even won a ribbon, together with their sisters, in the 1985 Lakewood Fourth of July parade.

Crowbar Fitness is not a typical gym. It offers classes in three areas: cycling, rowing and barre. Setnick and Soltero teach indoor cycling classes using RealRyder equipment. And they teach indoor rowing using Indo-Row machines. The barre “is a cardio-based, ballet-inspired class designed specifically for us by a professional dancer,” according to a media release.

A single class at Crowbar costs $20. Here is the full schedule of pricing.

Soltero and Setnick envision their gym becoming a social hub as well as a fitness one. Along with family memberships, they’re offering buddy deals, discounts for pals who join and work out together. They also want to create a schedule of evening social events, “an alternative to the bar scene,” they say. They should call it the barre scene.
