Crossroads Trading Co., which has a shop on Main Street in Deep Ellum, will open a shop at 1924 Greenville Ave.

The thrift store will replace The Merchant, a stationery, gift store and coffee shop that opened on Greenville Avenue in 2017. A sign on the window of the shop says it’s just “see you later” and to follow the business on Instagram for updates.

Crossroads Trading offers resale clothing for men and women. Neighbors can exchange their clothing, shoes and accessories for cash or store credit.

It was founded in 1991 by Jerry Block and Chop Gerken and was one of the first companies focusing on secondhand clothing as an alternative to traditional retail. Crossroads Trading has since expanded to more than 30 locations across Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, Illinois and New York.

For areas the store hasn’t reached, Crossroads Trading allows residents to mail in pieces they wish to sell.

Crossroads Trading adds another secondhand store to the Lower Greenville area, joining Buffalo Exchange and Uptown Cheapskate. Jack Retro was in the neighborhood but closed in April.

The store has set a tentative opening date for mid-August.
