The State Fair of Texas is canceled because of the coronavirus, but you can still eat your fill of fair food at a pop-up event in our neighborhood.
Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs will serve corn dogs, funnel cakes, curly fries and lemonade from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 7 at Lakewood Growler, 6448 E. Mockingbird Lane.
At the pop-up, customers are asked to stand 6 feet apart and wear masks while waiting in line. Only one person per household should stand in line to place an order.
No cash will be accepted — cards only.
“For 78 years, the Fletcher’s family has served their original corny dogs to attendees of the State Fair of Texas,” according to a statement on Fletcher’s website. “While we are heartbroken that the State Fair of Texas will not take place this year, we take the health of our employees and customers seriously and understand the decision that was made to protect the public at large from COVID-19.”
