Many community drives have been canceled since March, leading to approximately 1,250 fewer donations, according to Ferguson Road Initiative. The shortage could negatively affect cancer patients, people who need surgery or victims of car accidents.

The community blood drive, in partnership with Carter BloodCare, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15 at White Rock Church of Christ.

Donors must register with Andrea Hernandez at andreahernandez@fergusonroad.org.

A COVID-19 antibody test will be performed with every donation.
