Comerica Bank is accepting gently used formal dresses and accessories for a Prom Dress Drive to benefit teenage girls in foster care served by Dallas CASA, which is located in East Dallas.

The kickoff event is this Thursday morning at 10 a.m. There have been many dresses already donated and Dallas CASA is “very excited about all the girls who will be able to select a beautiful dress and accessories for their prom” — girls who otherwise may not be able to afford them, according to spokeswoman Rosanne Lewis.

During the month of February, select Comerica banking centers will serve as drop-off locations for new or gently used formal dresses and accessories. The kickoff will be at Comerica Bank Tower at 1717 Main Street in downtown Dallas in the lobby banking center. For more information, visit www.comerica.com/promdress.

Also on Thursday, Dallas Casa’s first class of new advocates for 2015 are being sworn in. They are expecting more than 40 people to become new CASA volunteers and at least seven of those are from the Lakewood/White Rock area.
