This is one of those “picture is worth a thousand words” posts. For the past few days, city construction crews have been tearing up the center of Alderson Street just outside our office at 6301 Gaston Avenue (Wells Fargo Bank Building). So as I was returning from a meeting this afternoon, I noticed the ultimate driving fiasco scenario: A car had ploughed into one of the repaired street squares filled with new cement and couldn’t escape. As I walked up to see what was going on, a few city workers were trying to push the driver and car out, but the cement was too resilient. Eventually, they had to bring a tow truck over to extricate the car, which by then was pretty well coated with cement from the bottom of the doors on down. That should be an expensive cleanup job.
