Plans for major building improvements are underway at Bryan Adams High School after the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees approved $69 million in 2015 bond funds for the project.
It will be the first major renovation of the school since it opened in 1957, Dallas ISD board trustee Dan Micciche said.
The improvements will include a 2,000-seat competition gym, as well as a weight room, training room and boys and girls locker rooms. Ten new classrooms and restrooms will also be added, Micciche said.
Performers will benefit from more practice rooms, new band and choir halls and additional instrument and uniform storage that are part of planned upgrades to the Fine Arts Suite.
Micciche added that the counselor suite, the clinic suite, the teacher workroom and the reception office in the administrative area will be renovated. There will also be $17 million in life-cycle replacements, including a new marquee sign at the front entrance.
The projects are expected to be completed in 2021, he said.
“We are excited about the school’s academic success and proud of its many traditions and programs,” Micciche said. “With the new renovations, the school will look great and have the academic, fine arts and athletic facilities our students need.”
