Lindsey Smith, Vice President of White Rock Neighborhood Association and beautification  chair said it will improve the safety for the neighborhood. The community faces various reoccurring safety concerns, from blind curves in the neighborhood or illegal parking that creates encroachment on the road, leading to people unable to see the passage or go off roading onto parkland.

Beautification

In March of  2023, White Rock Neighborhood launched a Beautification Committee focused on strategic projects that impact our neighborhood and surrounding community. Our impact:

  • Entrance Beautification – Boulders, Planting, Tree Maintenance
  • Improved Signage – Sign Toppers, Monuments, Street Sign Maintenance
  • Trash Removal
  • Holiday Light Contest
  • Fundraising & Capital Campaigns

“I’m excited that the White Rock Neighborhood association is giving back to our community and improving our entrances and improving our Parkland, our shared areas that we all live [in] and love,” Smith said.

White Rock Neighborhood Boulder Beautification Project Scope

The team kicked off their first project in partnership with Dallas Parks and Recreation Department to make a significant impact on the beautification of shared entrances to White Rock lake and the neighborhood. The boulder beautification will remove broken and rotten wooden bollards and replace them with sustainable and durable sandstone boulders.  This project will eliminate illegal parking on park land, improve safety and provide erosion control. Boulders are currently being delivered along Fisher Rd, W. Lawther Dr. and Dalgreen Park.

The project is sponsored by Comerica Bank, David Bush Realtors, Republic Title, Anfield Commercial, and Friend of The SoPac Trail.

Strategic Partners

Seven strategic partners donated funds towards the project. In total the beautification project raised over $15,000. Strategic partners and their contribution included:

  • WRNA – boulder cost Fisher Rd, Area 1, 2, 5 – $5,252
  • City of Dallas – labor, demo and installation – $5,000
