Bike lanes are being installed along Abrams Road as the City of Dallas reconstructs a 3-mile stretch of thoroughfare in East Dallas.
Completed bike lanes stretch from Beacon to Ridgeway streets and run along both sides of Abrams Road.
District 14 Councilman David Blewett called the project a “great addition to a more connected Dallas.”
The Dallas City Council approved the bike lanes in January 2019 as part of a larger project to reconstruct a thoroughfare known by three different names: Main Street, Columbia Avenue and Abrams Road. The Columbia Avenue and Abrams Road portions will receive bike lanes, but the Main Street portion will not.
The Abrams Road portion of the project is expected to end in May 2022.
The entire project will cost $8 million and will be fully funded through a streets and transportation bond program voters approved in 2017, according to the bond program’s website.
The Dallas City Council approved the reconstruction of this thoroughfare, highlighted in red on the map.
