There is a new lot in the neighborhood this year — or at least it’s new to us.

The tree lot in Casa Linda Plaza belongs to John Patton. If that name sounds vaguely familiar, it’s because he’s the son of neighbor Jeff Patton, who has been selling tress in East Dallas for upwards of 40 years. (Read last year’s story about Jeff and Yvette Patton.)

John Patton learned the trade from his dad, and he’s been running his own lot for seven years at Northwest Highway and Jupiter. This year he wasn’t able to use his usual location, so he moved to Casa Linda Plaza at the corner of Buckner and Garland.

IMG_4658“I live in Forest Hills, so I think this is a way better location,” John points out.

John’s business is totally separate from Jeff’s, although they do split tree shipments from North Carolina and Oregon.

Despite the fact that he’s already selling trees, John says the official grand opening of the lot won’t be until Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, which is when neighbors buy the most Christmas trees.

Jeff Patton is also setting up his tree lot in Hillside Village Shopping Center at Mockingbird and Abrams. Learn more about Patton’s Christmas Trees, which celebrated 40 years of business last year, via the Facebook page.
