Austin Street Center of Dallas, a downtown shelter providing services for the homeless, is opening a new consignment store in Casa Linda Plaza shopping center. According to the Austin Street website, Hope’s Clothing and Consignment will be a “retail destination for gently used, upscale apparel, electronics and furniture, as well as selected items on consignment.”
The store is set to open Friday, Feb. 1. Proceeds will go toward providing services for Austin Street’s clients, which include psychological counseling, work readiness programs, substance abuse counseling and a transitional living facility for those with employment. Hope’s employees are Austin Street clients who are receiving valuable work experience as they prepare for retail work once they transition back into the community.
Austin Street is a unique nonprofit that is debt-free, relying entirely on non-government funding from local churches, foundations and other civic organizations. “Hope’s Clothing & Consignment is honored to be a part of the Casa Linda Plaza storied history, and we look forward to creating a niche market in the area,” states John Bruce, Austin Street’s director of retail operations and marketing, on the Austin Street website. The consignment store is located at 9440 Garland Road between Starbucks and Natural Grocers. Call 214.421.0912 to schedule a pick-up for donation items.
