Nearly 200 rose bushes are blooming at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden thanks to a donation from former Preston Hollow neighbor Nancy Pierce. She moved from her 1953 ranch-style home in the fall of 2018 after 21 years of cultivating roses. Her collection was so prized that it was documented by the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Gardens. Her yard became a destination.
When it was time to move, she donated her rose bushes to the Boswell Family Garden, along with the established Rose Mary Haggar Rose Garden. The collection, which is in full bloom, was inspired by Pierce’s mother Cherrie Perkins Wells, who encouraged Pierce to start her rose collection.
“I did a lot of research. I reviewed catalogues, scanned the Internet and discovered the website helpmefind.com/roses. It’s my rose bible,” Pierce said in a release.
