An upscale neighborhood restaurant and bar serving American classics in an old-school comfortable setting will open for dinner Wednesday.

The Alamo Club may open Wednesday, but owner Austin Rodgers said he hopes the eatery will feel like a neighborhood classic that has been around for years.

“We are excited to be opening on Lowest Greenville, taking special care of the locals who live nearby,” Rodgers said. “We want Alamo Club to be their home away from home. It’s big enough to come with a crowd, but still chill enough to bring a date.”

The eatery will take over the former Blind Butcher space at 1919 Greenville Ave. Alamo Club will seat 68 guests in a cozy dining area with a community high-top table and bar. Additional seating for 80 will be available on an outdoor patio that Rodgers hopes will be a prime brunch spot in the spring.

A full dinner menu will be served seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. as well as happy hour and late-night food and drink specials.

The menu includes fresh house-made entrees like club spaghetti, seared snapper and a pastrami sandwich. The bar will focus on no-frills cocktails like Shaken not Stirred and Not Tonight Mike that riff on the classics.

“Alamo Club is a place where everybody will know your name,” Rodgers said in a statement. “The menu is simple with comfort food done well that guests know and want to eat.”

Rodgers, 33, is launching Alamo Club after working in management at Nick & Sam’s, Offsite Kitchen, Neighborhood Services and Town Hearth.
