The location smacks of prestige, and feels a little more like hanging out in your rich uncle’s cigar lounge than a sports bar. But that’s basically what they owners — the same folks behind McFadden’s in Addison and The Mason Bar in Uptown — were going for. They wanted Henderson Tap House to be a “more grown-up version of McFadden’s,” says spokesperson Kelly Fordham. Hence the brick walls, dark polished wood, collections of leather-bound books and sports memorabilia.

There are two full-service bars, which feature 24 draft beers and more than 50 bottled beers, including craft selections and tall boys in paper bags, as well as an impressive selection of spirits with an emphasis on exceptional whiskey and bourbon.

The Henderson Tap House menu features “tempting new twists on traditional bar fare,” with wood fire pizzas, prime rib and potato nachos, shrimp with a sriracha house glaze, the Fire Breather burger with a jalapeno stuffed patty topped with pepper jack cheese and fire sauce, lobster mac and cheese, and braised chicken thighs with cheddar hominy grits.

Then, finish it off with a plate of house-baked chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk.

If you don’t want to watch the big game from a booth, there’s this cozy nook — perfect for sipping a Scotch and nitpicking football tactics.

Also, this sitting area near the front features a couple of optimally located, hi-def TVs, and is flanked by two glass garage doors, which can and will be opened during nice weather.
