Three juvenile suspects led Dallas Police on an over three-mile long car chase Sunday afternoon before crashing on Abrams Road near Mockingbird.
The chase and accident resulted in a heavy police presence in the surrounding neighborhoods throughout much of Sunday.
According to Dallas Police, the incident began around 1:00 p.m. Sunday when police responded to the 5200 block of Parry Ave. after witnesses reported suspects shooting from a car in the area. When police arrived, officers observed the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.
Police said the vehicle failed to stop, resulting in an officer pursuit for around 3.5 miles.
The suspects attempted to flee the vehicle on foot after crashing in the Southbound lane of the 4100 block of Abrams Road, police said. Officers apprehended three suspects and determined they are juveniles.
Images posted to Facebook by neighbors who witnessed the incident show a red vehicle abandoned in the middle of Abrams Road with the doors ajar.
“They blew past me on Abrams, very scary,” wrote neighbor Tiffany Teel.
Wilshire Heights resident Toni Scott said she sent several Girl Scouts selling cookies home due to the heavy police presence in the neighborhood and the helicopter circling the area.
Dallas police said the suspects are in custody, but did not say what they have been charged with.
