Teardowns can be done decently, honest. Just check out the one under construction on Richmond near Alderson. It’s not going to win any awards, but it more or less fits into the neighborhood.

As opposed to almost every other teardown in that part of town in and around Lakewood Heights. There are some doozies — the most recent of which is on Belmont just west of Abrams. We’ll ignore the fact that some of us might call it ugly (I know, I know, I shouldn’t be a snob about these things). But what it is is too big for the lot and too expensive for the block. That’s an awful lot of house to cram on such a tiny piece of land.
