Since 1978, the DeGolyer home has been decorated each Christmas in festive holiday attire by local and nationally known designers.

This year, each of the ten selected designers has creative control of a specific room in the 1939 ranch-style home overlooking White Rock Lake, creating a diverse interpretation of the Faberge look.

"We have several great designers this year who will  bring out the beauty of both Faberge and Russia," says Linda Faulkner, public relations representative for the Arboretum.

After five months of planning and five days of decorating, the house is then opened up to the public for daily tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 31.

The grandly decorated DeGolyer House also will be the site for theTurf Club of the Dallas Arboretum to present its annual murder mysteryparty Dec. 4, featuring cocktails, food and a performance by the Murder Mystery Players, Inc. Space is limited to 100 persons and reservations are required.

The Turf Club also will add to the holiday spirit by helping with An Afternoon with Santa at the Dallas Arboretum, from 1-3 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m. Dec. 14. This afternoon visit to Santa will include desserts, eggnog, cookie decorating and other treats. Cost is $7 per person and reservations must be made by Dec. 10.

The Turf Club is a volunteer support group at the Dallas Arboretum that promotes activities and educational opportunities for children and families at the garden.

“Our goal with the Turf Club is to provide a family-friendly calendar of events and fun while working to support children’s education activities at the Arboretum,” says Cindy Timms, club president.

“We are especially involved and interested in the development of a children’s activity garden, and all the funds we raise during the fiscal year, over and above our expenses, are dedicated to that project.”
