Dallas’ Only Daily Newspaper continually reminds us why we’re so lucky to have it. Yesterday, a New York cabbie turned in a briefcase with $30,000 worth of diamonds that a customer left in his cab. The customer, who was apparently a jeweler from Dallas, had  given the cabbie a 30-cent tip.

When The Morning News ran the story this morning, the bit about Dallas was apparently edited out. No doubt the News didn’t want to embarrass the city, given that the tip amounted to less than 3 percent. But I’m also wondering: Was the woman Newsday identified as a Dallas jeweler a Belo advertiser?
