After the success of their first pop-up bakery, neighborhood chefs Lily Hanson and Skye McDaniel with The Bake Sale are hosting a second pop-up bakery on Mother’s Day weekend, on May 9, next to Jimmy’s Italian Market and Urbano Cafe at 1410 N. Fitzhugh.
Both Hanson and McDaniel have restaurant and home cooking experience, and it’s their love of baking that brought them together. They plan to do more pop-ups in the future with “a focus on baking with thematic variations,” they said in an email. They see the pop-ups as “an opportunity to explore their various baking ideas/interests in a public forum.”
The Mother’s Day Bake Sale will feature The Mother Bread made with slivered almonds, golden raisins, and citrus; gluten-free lemon cookies; Carmelita bars; fresh berry and ginger crostada, almond orange cake, which is also gluten-free; double chocolate raspberry cake; and homemade fruit preserves.
Joining The Bake Sale is Miriana Andreeva of Flower Power Nation with her unique flower arrangements. The Bake Sale will be open on May 9 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 1410 N. Fitzhugh in Old East Dallas.
