Lower Greenville could have a new grocery store next year. I don’t know the details yet, but Jonathon Hetzel, a leasing agent at Madison Partners, told me that a "small, organic grocery chain" has preleased the anchor spot in a development that is planned for the site of the old Arcadia nightclub.
We reported last year that the development was on track for a spring 2009 opening. But it has been pushed back, probably to late 2010, because of tighter lending standards and a drop in construction costs. "We are taking new construction bids and moving forward with it," Hetzel said.
He says we’ll all be excited about this grocer, but he can’t tell me who it is yet. As soon as I know more, I will report it here.
