With gloomy skies and rain in the forecast, there are still plenty of ways to stay busy this weekend.
The Bath House Cultural Center is hosting several exhibitions and events beginning June 6:
Second Surface: Shaping New Features from Plastic Waste — Dallas artists Purva Chawla and Steven Kinder present an exhibit highlighting the beauty, strength and functionality of discarded plastics.
Made in Plastic II — Artists ShabNam Modjarrad and Diana Marquis invite visitors to reflect on sustainable practices and reconsider the consequences of single-use plastics.
The Eye of the Artist: Interpretations of Nature — Penny Wright and Wayne Winn’s exhibit gives viewers the opportunity to immerse themselves in artwork inspired by the natural world.
Visitors can also attend a reception celebrating the exhibitions on June 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Also on June 6, Julia Velázquez will present the Mafalda Comic Lecture from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The lecture will explore her research on Mafalda and provide insight into the comic strip’s cultural and historical significance.
