The time has come for parking meter rates in Deep Ellum to be increased.
Back in 2024, parking meter rates in Dallas were raised to a minimum of $1 per hour, except in Deep Ellum, where full implementation was to be delayed until May 8, 2026.
“This two-year delay in increasing meter rates in Deep Ellum is intended to provide time for additional off-street parking capacity to be developed and to coincide with substantial completion of the Commerce Street two-way conversion project,” according to a City memo from 2024.
Before 2024, most parking meter rates were said to not have changed in more than 10 years.
These changes were expected to make parking costs standard, push for turnover and increase City revenue, according to a report from The Dallas Morning News. Dallas officials will be considering whether parking rates need to change even more.
