The White Rock Home Tour offers a peek inside some of the most interesting neighborhood homes.
Mid-century modern to more contemporary designs will all be included in the 12th annual White Rock Home Tour, set for Saturday and Sunday. A benefit for Hexter Elementary, you can visit the six featured properties from noon-5 p.m. each day. Tickets purchased by April 21 are $15 (and available online here); the day of the event, tickets are $20 and available at Hexter Café on the elementary school’s property, 9720 Waterview. The café will also be providing lunch from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. all weekend, with foods from One90 Smoked Meats and Pizza Getti (as well as restrooms for tour-goers).
Good Records is marking its 17th anniversary along with the 10th annual Record Store Day with a party on Saturday from 7 a.m. to midnight. Expect lots of live music, tons of DJs (including celebrity neighbor Erykah Badu spinning as Lo Down Loretta Brown) and plenty of food and drink, including libations from local breweries. It’s a tradition 60 years in the making as the theatrical students of Woodrow Wilson High School come together for the annual spring musical, running April 20-23. Read all about the show and how to get tickets in our April feature on the beloved event.
Calling all artists, the library is collecting submissions for the 53rd annual Lakewood Art Show. The work will be displayed through May. Anyone who wants to be considered can bring their pieces down to the Lakewood Library, 6121 Worth St., on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Grab a sitter this Saturday and head over to the Lakewood House Party at the Barley House, 5612 SMU Blvd. From 7-11 p.m., there will be music, food and plenty of drinks to keep parents partying during this kid-free fundraiser for Lakewood Elementary. Tickets are $50-$75 and available here.
The state’s largest Earth Day event to date will take place just on the edge of our neighborhood in Fair Park from Friday to Sunday. This year includes the launch of a new environmental film series, EarthxFilms, which includes screenings and film-related programming all weekend. The totally free weekend also includes green vendors and food producers, live music and dozens of other activities that celebrate Mother Earth. Get a full schedule of events here.
Haymaker is the starting off point for the April Pub Run on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. The 3-mile loop (see the course here) leads back to Haymaker, where a raffle for gift cards, running shoes and other prizes will take place.
Take the kids for fine dining and a children’s movie when Knife screens “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” on Sunday at 8 p.m. The menu will be “programmed” by chef/owner John Tesar. Tickets are $35, with $10 going to the Dallas Film Society. Get all the details here.
