When you walk into 504 Bar & Grill, one of the newer restaurants on Lowest Greenville, someone will greet you almost immediately. Don’t be surprised if the bartender asks for your name and then calls you by it for the rest of the evening, or if the friendly stranger sitting next to you at the bar wants to engage in small talk. That’s just the kind of atmosphere 504 does its best to foster.
“We’re a neighborhood spot and we want you to feel welcome,” says bar manager Michael Jordan. “Our goal is to get to know everybody who walks in here, and we want the neighborhood to know their neighbors.”
504 is owned by Charlie McGuiness, who created the original Dodie’s just a few doors down the way on Lowest Greenville, and James Henson.
A few months ago it replaced New Big Wong and began slinging drinks and serving upscale “creole fusion cuisine,” with menu options that range from the aged double cheddar mac n cheese for $7 to the 7 oz filet prime for $30.
It opens at 2 p.m. and closes at midnight on Monday through Friday, then 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss their upcoming events. Go to the Facebook page for more.
