Update (July 7): A spokesperson for Yumilicious tells the Advocate that the Greenville store owner chose not to renew the lease because of “the normal reasons” of high rent and not enough traffic to support the business.

Yumilicious Frozen Yogurt, a dessert chain with several Texas locations, closed its Greenville Avenue store.

The frozen yogurt shop had been open there, at the corner of a strip center near Lovers Lane, since 2010. It closed permanently June 26, but there are other nearby Yumilicious stores in Uptown and Snider Plaza.

A couple other dining establishments in the same strip as the now vacant Yumilicious are Panda Tea and Pho is for Lovers.

As for what might fill the space, permit applications provide a hint.

Before the yogurt shop closed, a restaurant called Naminohana applied for a certificate of occupancy at 5521 Greenville Ave. Suite 111. An application for a master permit to renovate the building interior was also submitted, and the business listed was Naminohana Handroll Bar and Sushi.

As of publication, the CO application is still in review, and the master permit has not been issued. We’ll continue to follow this story and provide updates as we learn more.
