In conjunction with the Writer’s Garret, author Robert Morgan will give a reading, a talk and a class next weekend. The free reading and talk takes place on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture.

The next day, Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m.—1 p.m. he will teach a fiction writing class at the Writer’s Garret on 10809 Garland. The class costs $55-$70. Morgan will guide the class through ideas on conflict, character, voice, point-of-view and writing compelling narratives. Register online or call 214.828.1715.

Morgan writes poetry, fiction and nonfiction, teaches at Cornell and is well known for his novel Gap Creek, which was chosen for Oprah’s Book Club in 2000.
