Woodrow Wilson High School’s athletic and performing arts programs are being showcased around the neighborhood in coming days.
On May 2, the school is hosting a Future Wildcat Night in the competition gym. This is an opportunity for families of kids in kindergarten through eighth grade to learn about the high school’s athletic programs. Each sport the school offers will be represented, and coaches will be there to meet families.
Future Wildcat Night begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The second-annual CATfest, an outdoor arts and food festival, is scheduled for May 7. This fundraiser will feature performances by Journey tribute band Girl Can’t Help It; folklorico ensembles from Woodrow and Mount Auburn STEAM Academy; J.L. Long’s band; the Mata Mythical Beasts; the SMU Pep Band; Solar Preparatory School for Girls’ orchestra; and the band, drumline, jazz band, dance company, choir, twirlers and Robocats from Woodrow.
Food trucks will be on site at the event, to be held 1-4 p.m. May 7 at the Samuell-Grand Amphitheater. Purchase raffle tickets ($2 each) for a chance to win gift items and gift cards to local businesses and restaurants.
Tickets to CATfest, the largest fundraiser for the band, cost $5 for adults; kids under 12 attend for free.
