Woodrow Wilson High School students helped build an immersive art pop-up for a Dallas nonprofit.
Two teams from the East Dallas school, along with others from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Hillcrest High School and CityLab, were chosen to build the Spark! Prismatic pop-up.
Each team designed a room with a single color and theme.
Dallas nonprofit Spark! was founded in 2010 and provides kids with workshops and activities to help them develop creative skills they can use in school and the workplace.
Woodrow art teacher Jessica Raff was the adviser for both Woodrow teams. Team Sunjoy included students Teal, Natali and Armando, who designed a giant ball pit, neon signs and a mural, all shaded in yellow.
Team Orange You Glad to See Me, made of students Layla, Stella and Ramsey, features a giant papier-mâché caterpillar and flowers.
The exhibit is open 4-8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. Sundays from June 2-Aug. 27. On June 10, July 8 and Aug. 12, the exhibit has extended hours, open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Adult-only nights on June 16, June 14, July 15, Aug. 5 and Aug. 18 invite people 21 and older to visit during a two-hour time slot; admission includes drink tickets for beer, wine or soda.
