This Friday, July 12 at 7.p.m., over 80 graduates from the Wilkinson Center’s GED program will walk across the stage at the Dallas Mountain View College Performance Hall and receive their diplomas.

The Wilkinson Center has provided adult education programs for over 15 years, some of which include:

  • High School Equivalency 
  • English as a Second Language
  • English as a second language 
  • Integrated EI Civics
  • Individual Education and Training (IET)

Several scholarships will be awarded to the graduates, among them is the inaugural Melanie Myers Scholarship. The $1,500 scholarship, given to a student for their exceptional scholarly achievement, was named after Melanie Myer– a Lakewood resident and board member for the Wilkinson Center. After her passing from ovarian cancer in Dec. of 2022, her family started the scholarship in her honor.

Resource One will also be awarding five $500 scholarships, three of which will be awarded to graduates for post-secondary school and two for professional development and needs.
