The Wilkinson Center, a nonprofit that aims to help underprivileged Dallas families gain self-sufficiency, will host its Pantry in the Park fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 3 at The Filter Building on White Rock Lake.
The event will take place from 6-10 p.m. at 2810 White Rock Road and will be chaired by longstanding supporters Katie and Tim (Skip) Skipworth. You can expect there to be cocktails, food, a DJ and auctions at the fundraiser, according to a press release.
“Skip and I are excited to chair Wilkinson Center’s Pantry in the Park,” Katie Skipworth said in the press release. “We are passionate about Wilkinson Center and all that it does. The cause is important to us because it is helping and teaching people to survive on their own. We have volunteered at Wilkinson Center for over 10 years and have seen how it has positively impacted the lives of so many people. Their journeys to success are accelerated by the community’s support. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to this year’s Pantry in the Park.”
Wilkinson Center’s food and support services as well as its education and employment center are located in our neighborhood on North Buckner Boulevard. According to the Wilkinson Center’s website, the food pantry serves people of all ages and in a variety of circumstances, including children and older adults. Education services include adult basic education, high school equivalency (GED), English as a second language, career readiness, and workforce development and training, like the bilingual patient care technician program with Dallas College.
“Wilkinson Center continues to see the need in the community as families face critical life challenges, including food insecurity, lack of education, economic instability, unemployment and underemployment,” the center’s Executive Director Daley Ryan said in the press release. “Support of this year’s event will truly impact the individuals and families we serve, helping our clients overcome their barriers and advance economically to self-sufficiency. Pantry in the Park is truly a party with a purpose.”
Tickets cost $150 each, and sponsorships range from $2,000 to $15,000, according to the press release. Click here for more information.
