The document states that the White Rock Lake Trail is safe to use and is not in imminent threat of failure, citing that erosion is a natural occurrence.

“The Park and Recreation Department has been evaluating this erosion issue at the lake and adjacent to the trail for the last year and a half and is currently working to develop a permanent solution to the erosion issue at the edge of the shoreline,” Assistant Director of Dallas Park and Recreation Planning, Design and Facilities Services Christina Turner-Noteware said in a statement.

This follows an incident where two vehicles crossed onto the White Rock Lake Trail from Garland Road. Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Dallas City officials met to address the risks vehicles may potentially pose to trail users.

TxDOT has since agreed to design and install a permanent concrete barrier that is projected to be completed by March 2025.

Dallas Park and Recreation has installed interlocking water barriers to prevent vehicles from accessing the trail in the interim.

Additionally, the Parks and Recreation Department is working to have sheet piling placed at the edge of the shoreline.
