A Richardson-based friend e-mailed me this morning and asked me recommend a good Italian place in Lakewood. He and his wife are good friends of mine and today is their wedding anniversary and it seems they’ll be spending it in our neck of the woods.

I recommended Scalini’s and also suggested that — his wife being an unrepentant wine guzzler — they head to Times Ten after or before for a glass of wine on the patio. It occurred to me later that I could also have suggested they stop by the new Paciugo.

Which got me thinking about two things: One, our little corner here of Gaston and Abrams has become a fine little date-night destination — you can have a good meal, a good sugary indulgence and a good glass of wine without having to get back in the car once. Heck, give it a few months and you could even throw in a good massage at the new Whole Foods.

And two, what would our blog readers recommend if one of their more northern-‘burb neighbors asked them the same question: What would be your perfect East Dallas date night?
