Till & Toil, which runs from March through May, is an ale known for its tropical fruit and citrus notes derived from Citra and Mosaic hops.

Antigoon’s Revenge has a bit more of a backstory. During a media tour of the brewery — which, despite the name, is not actually located in Lakewood; that’s just where founder Wim Bens started the home brewing process  — spokesperson Craig Bradley walked us through the company’s “Legendary Series.” (That’s not a figure of speech; that’s actually what it’s called.)

The story begins with the Belgian story of Brabo vs. Antigoon. A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away…) a brave Roman soldier named Silvius Brabo grew tired of paying tolls to cross the river Scheldt, so he chopped off the hand of Antigoon, the menacing giant who guarded the bridge in the city of Antwerp, slaying him and collecting a mighty reward.

Lakewood Brewing Co. recognized the heroism of Brabo with Brabo’s Cut, the first Legendary release, but the story made Lakewood Brewing Co. consider, “What if Antigoon came back for revenge?” Thus, Antigoon’s Revenge, a traditional big, Belgian-Style Golden Ale, untraditionally brewed with a touch of cherry-wood smoked malt.

Furthermore, if you’re ever looking for something to do on a Saturday, Lakewood Brewing Co. offers tours through the brewery every Saturday. Get a first taste with the video below. Enjoy!
