There’s a documentary about the band Fishbone, another about the people who play superheroes on Hollywood Boulevard, and one about Polack jokes. Plus there are features. One from Cuban filmmaker Miguel Coyula and one about love in space.

Those are just a few of the movies in the four-day festival that is Dallas’s own Video Fest. The 23rd annual festival starts Thursday at the Angelika. Call it outsider film-making. The Video Association of Dallas seeks videos from all over the world. The result is the world’s largest video festival, which brings movies that can’t be found online and generally are rare.
