What’s the old joke about the definition of chutzpah? The child who murdered his parents and asks for leniency because he is an orphan? Well, we can now change it to TXU’s campaign to market its privatization.

The utility was chastised by the PUC yesterday for "discrepancies" between  statements it made to the media and in what it actually said in its commission filings — which is the legally binding stuff. In other words, it was telling the newspaper and TV reporters one thing and promising the state something completely different. Even better, a TXU attorney apologized for any "artful wording" that may have led to the confusion. Doesn’t that inspire confidence in the new TXU?
