UPDATE: One day after police announced that capital murder warrants were released for Jacolby Hill and Ashton Hill related to a shooting death on Ferguson Road, the two men are in custody. Each man’s bond has been set at $500,000.

Two men are suspected in Saturday’s murder on Ferguson Road, which police called a drug transaction turned robbery that led to the shooting death of Jerell Dilworth. While they are not yet in custody, warrants have been issued for Jacolby Hill, 21, and Ashton Hill, 23.
According to police reports, on March 4, Dilworth planned to meet the Hills at a tobacco shop at 7303 Ferguson around 11:30 a.m., allegedly to buy or sell drugs. He got into their car, a white Buick, and they drove a couple blocks to the White Rock Hills Townhomes. That’s when it became clear something was wrong — a witness said it appeared that Dilworth was attempting to get out of the vehicle and a struggle ensued as someone tried to keep him in the car. Then two gunshots rang out, and the witness saw Dilworth’s body fall from the Buick. The car sped from the scene.
The witness, who is not being identified for their safety, approached Dilworth, saw he had been shot in the back of the head, and called 911.
Police initially had little to go on, but they began with the last call made by the victim’s cellphone, just minutes before the murder. Homicide Detective Chaney searched that number on Facebook and found a profile for Colby Blood, who has 3,200 friends, regularly posts about drugs and has a profile video that shows him counting large stacks of cash. Then, a Crime Stoppers tip identified the suspects as Jacolby Hill and Ashton Hill, and provided the same phone number police found on the victim’s phone. The tipster told police Dilworth was shot during a robbery. Chaney realized the Facebook photos of Blood were actually Jacolby Hill.
The Hills were both arrested in December, while driving a white Buick. According to the tip, they hid the car after it was splattered with blood.
Both Jacolby Hill and Ashton Hill are described as black men, around 5’5-5’7, with a thin build.
