One firefighter suffered heat-related injures while fighting the blaze, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Firefighters attempted to put out the fire from inside the building, but by the time they arrived the roof had been compromised and soon-after collapsed. It took nearly two hours to put out the fire.

Louis Cano, the manager of the Frutería Cano and son of the owner, says they still don’t know what caused the fire.

Cano says there is a vacant lot across the street next to a La Huasteca where they will temporarily house the business while his family decides what to do. Frutería Cano started out as a small shop in Old East Dallas 13 years ago and became so popular that the owners expanded to seven stores in Dallas, Garland and Irving.

“A lot of people think we’re going to close down, but that’s not the plan,” he says.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
