The Dallas Observer offers a scathing look at some back-room city hall politics this week concerning the ever-fading hopes for the parks and lakes we voted for about 10 years ago along the Trinity River. Thank goodness for councilwoman Angela Hunt, who is basically risking her political future (assuming she even wants one in Dallas) by standing up, by herself, as the sole voice of reason in asking the simple question: What happened to the parks and lakes we voted and paid for? If you get a chance, read the story, because in my opinion, it’s one of the most important issues facing Dallas as we select a new mayor and a whole bunch of new council reps. Voters approved a lake and park years ago, and we don’t have one: So what do all of these candidates have to say about this boondoggle, and what are they going to do about it? (Side note: If anyone still has copies of the original brochures and election materials concerning the Trinity bond issue, please let me know. I’d like to post a few pictures here on the blog so people can be reminded what we thought we were going to get.)
