Tonight, April 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., East Dallas historic districts Junius Heights, Munger Place and Swiss Avenue are sponsoring an open forum. Jim Anderson will be the moderator. Bring your best questions for the candidates.

Booklet-Front-II-660x350The Art Department of the Dallas Women’s Forum is hosting Antiques at the Alexander on Saturday, April 27. The event, which is focused on learning about antiques, will be held at the Alexander Mansion, at 4607 Ross, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be two lectures in the morning, and in the afternoon you have the opportunity to speak with an appraiser about objects you bring. On Sunday, April 28th, you can enjoy a concert and benefit those affected by the recent tragedy in West, Texas. Presented by the AT&T Performing Arts Center, the event will feature performances by Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights, a brief set of solo acoustic songs by Toadies lead singer Vaden Todd Lewis, The O’s, Somebody’s Darling and Goodnight Ned. Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) has partnered with organizers to create the “Texans for West Fund”. All proceeds for the concert will be deposited with the Foundation. Using guidance from CFT leadership, benefit creators will choose non-profits whose missions are provide basic needs including food, clothing, shelter and counseling services for those affected by the recent events in West, Texas. The event will be hosted at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, Annette Strauss Square, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Strauss Square is an outdoor, BYOB venue. michaelagraceFor more from the East Dallas music scene, St. Monica Catholic High School alumna Michaela Grace will be performing songs from her folksy-country album, “Infinite”  at White Rock Coffee this Thursday at 7 p.m. If mellowing out to soothing piano and vocals is more your style check out Autumn’s Music at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26. Both shows are free. White Rock Coffee is located at 10105 E. Northwest Highway.

The Dance Department at Woodrow Wilson High School will present “Dance on the Horizon” April 26th and 27th at 7:30 p.m. in the Woodrow Auditorium. The 4th Annual Spring Dance Concert will feature more than 250 students including the Woodrow Wilson Sweethearts, Woodrow Dance Theatre, Ballet Folklorico Dance, and all students in the Department of Dance. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the show for $5 for Balcony and $10 for Orchestra. All money raised will support the cost of summer camps, uniforms, and a performance trip to Spain in 2014.
