“Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale.”
Head to the Dallas Children’s Theater this weekend for the opening of “Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale.” This Zimbabwe-based Cinderella story has traditional dancing, drumming, and unique African singing. The play runs through July 9 and tickets are from $23 to $30.
The University at C. C. Young is hosting a discussion over the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs, as well as the orbits of the earth and moon. John Bill McMillan, who will be leading the discussion, has a degree in aeronautical engineering and is retired after 40 years in the space industry. The lecture is free and open to the general public this Thursday, June 25, at 10 a.m. Seating is limited; call to register at 214.841.2831.
Neighborhood author Monica Shaw will be hosting a book signing for her book “The Rainwater Secret” at Lucky Dog Books at its new Casa Linda location this Thursday, June 22, at 7 p.m. Shaw tells the story of Anna, who leaves her life in England to go on a mission in Nigeria with the Missionaries of Mary to teach leper children. Follow Anna through her adventures and hardships as she creates a home for outcast children of Africa. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Missionaries of Mary.
Get your health fix this weekend at the White Rock Market, Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is at Lake Pointe Church and will have local produce, artisan eats and crafts.
Head to Walton’s Garden Center for a grill demo day, micro-brewery sampling, and giveaways, brought to you by Breckenridge Brewery. The grill demonstrations will go from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, June 24.
Throw it back this Saturday from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. with HG Sply Co. as they host ’Gin & Juice’, where you can enjoy Lusher’s Redhots and HG hamburgers while jamming out to old school 90s hip hop. Come out to Hollywood Feed, 2031 Abrams, where DFW’s FurGotten Friends will have furry friends to help you reduce stress with a little “dog therapy” this Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. DFW’s FurGotten Friends is also hosting a finalized adoption celebration with Copper, a pit bull who was rescued from the M streets, and his foster sister Isabella at Haymaker Dallas. The event will take place on Sunday at 6 p.m. Copper’s family asks that you RSVP.
The Love Pit is hosting a dog meet and greet this Saturday from noon-4 p.m. at Truck Yard Dallas, 5624 Sears St. Come meet your new furry family member or just show some love to these furry friends.

Kick off the weekend with Créme De La Créme presents Karina at their Friday “Sunsets” event from 8 p.m.-midnight at Nora’s Restaurant and Bar. The Norwegian DJ guest Karina will be bringing her electrifying performances to life with local DJ Jason Eubanks opening the night.
Richardson-based acoustic rock cover duet, The Potters, are coming to BuzzBrews Kitchen Lakewood to perform tunes from multiple eras and genres as well as original music. The event begins at 8 p.m. Friday and ends at midnight. (More detaisl here).
