The Rotary Club of Dallas presented nine Dallas Independent School District teachers with the Service Above Self Teacher Awards, and three of them are East Dallas teachers.

The rotary club presents the award annually to teachers who demonstrate excellence and a willingness to go the extra mile to serve students and the community, according to an email blast from Dallas ISD.

Among the first place winners is Stacy Cianciulli with Rosemont Primary School, among the second place winners is Elsy Serpas with Alex Sanger Elementary School, and among the third place winners is Erin Elliot with Stonewall Jackson Elementary School.

First place winners received a cash award of $2,500, second place winners earned $800 and third place winners got $500. In addition each winner received a customized plaque and an American flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol in their honor and provided by Congressman Pete Sessions.
