Just got back from driving the three or four blocks to the Aldi at Northwest Highway and Abrams. (Would have walked, but I don’t have any boots, because, of course, I live in a place that doesn’t have winter.)

I say this as a veteran of too many Chicago winters — do not go out unless you absolutely have to. The roads are bad enough, what with the packed snow on top of the re-frozen ice. What’s worse are the drivers who are not going slowly. Apparently, they feel it is unmanly to put the car in second and proceed cautiously, and so they drive at the speed limit and weave in and out of traffic. That means you, Yellow Cab van.

And yes, that was a Dallas fire department utility truck — with tire chains, no less — that slid off of the road at Lovers and Fisher.
