IMG_8486_11The Lab at Lakewood is closing Aug. 26, says Melissa Wright in a blog post. At this point the future is still uncertain, she explained, but one thing is for sure — she’s not finished.

The Lab at Lakewood moved to Junius Heights from Lake Highlands a couple years ago. The lab is a fun way for kids to learn about science and “celebrate their inner geek,” as Wright puts it on the Lab website.

Now, due to “purely financial decisions,” Wright is closing the Lab. You can read more of her (awesomely, and almost startlingly) candid thoughts about the closure on her personal blog.

As for the future, she says a Montessori School is moving into the old space on Junius, and Wright hopes to offer limited camps there during the fall, winter and spring. Also, if anyone would like to offer The Lab “temporary, affordable space further north,” Wright says she’s interested. And finally, The Lab is also going mobile. Wright and her team will offer science parties at people’s homes twice a month from September to December.
