Eyebrows were raised recently when the girls’ sports program propelled Woodrow to win the Dallas Morning News All-Sports award twice. Last year, out of 46 North Texas schools participating in AAAA competition, Woodrow placed third.

But now with the district football championship, the boys are making a showing. This year’s team was the first football playoff team since 1969.

Then again, the girls’ volleyball team already has won district, the cross country team posted its best times for regionals and the previous playoff participants, the Lady Cats, are starting the hoop season.

Drug Investigation a Bust

Dallas police conducted an extensive undercover drug investigation at Woodrow this fall. Two officers posed as students and enrolled in school. After several weeks of trying to buy drugs at Woodrow, only one transaction was completed. The sale took place in a parking lot, and the 18-year-old dealer wasn’t a student.

Police officials were complimentary about the relative lack of drug use at the school and also said they weren’t able to find evidence of associated gang activity.
