“The Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1957, widely recognized as the best and closest in the East Dallas school’s illustrious 69-year history, will have its 40-year reunion June 20-22,” the facetious fax to the Advocate office read.

I’ll agree that 1957 is a good vintage, for wine, cars and the fact that most of my class (1976) was born or conceived in that year.

Headquarters and official hotel for the weekend is the Doubletree Hotel at Campbell Center. (Our official reunion motel was the Tampico on East Grand.)

There will be a Friday night mixer in the Skyline Room from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. On Saturday, there will be a scramble golf tournament at 8:30 a.m. at the Twin Creeks Golf Course in Allen. Did y’all know that my classmate, Jack Brittingham, is developing that whole area?

Enough asides. The big party on Saturday night will be held in the ballroom with a cocktail party, banquet and dancing, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. For survivors, post-mortems and bloodys will be served at the Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. till noon in the Skyline Room. My question: Why stop the party to sleep?

Members of the class are encouraged to register ASAP by calling 214-324-2928. The mailing address for the reunion is P.O. Box 181284, Dallas 75218. Or maybe you should call Jim Basham at 214-740-6982 (work) or 972-596-0976 (home). You notice his number ends in 76 – really the best and closest class from Woodrow.
