A 25-year-old man is facing capital murder for his alleged role in the fatal shooting of two women in Old East Dallas.

On Saturday, May 18, Dallas Police responded to an assist call in the 2400 block of N. Washington Avenue  at about 3:00 a.m.  

When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Jalisa Lockett, 24-year-old Amaya Lockett  and one man shot at the location.  Both women died at the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital and was last listed in stable condition.

Further investigation identified a suspect, 25-year-old Saadiq Shabazz, who is being charged with Capital Murder and was taken to the Dallas County Jail with a bond set at $3 million.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Jalissa and Amaya’s father has created a GoFundMe to help support his 10-month-old grandson and 2- year-old granddaughter who have lost their mothers.
